Uterine Fibroids are benign growths in the uterus, which usually appear for women during child-bearing years. Some women who have fibroids may not experience symptoms, while others may experience: heavy bleeding, frequent urination, enlargement of lower abdomen, lower back pain, or pain during sex.
Research suggests that estrogen and progesterone, two hormones which prepare the body for pregnancy, are the main cause of the development of uterine fibroids. While uterine fibroids do not increase the development of uterine cancer, careful monitoring is highly encouraged, especially when symptoms are present. If you, or someone you know is experiencing uterine fibroid symptoms, please call our office for a consultation for fibroid embolization.
